About Laura Manderino-Martins

I am a licensed professional counselor in Connecticut with over 9 years of experience working as a therapist and life coach. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, chronic illness and chronic pain, family conflict, parenting problems, career challenges, OCD, and ADHD. I have also co-led a support group for LGBTQ individuals and have lead group therapy for middle and high school students, as well as college students and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, and life transitions. I am a trauma and crisis trained professional and worked for several years with emergency mobile psychiatric services.  I began my career working on Yale Children’s Hospital Psychiatric Inpatient Unit, and continue to attend the latest trainings on crisis management, trauma, anxiety, chronic illness and chronic pain, in addition to trainings that include the newest modalities of treatment for these conditions.  I combine holistic and conventional methods tailored to your individual need, and am happy to speak with mental health and medical professionals that you are working with to coordinate your care to enhance your healing.  In addition to my continued training in mental health services, I am trained in EFT (tapping) and am a level 1 Reiki practitioner. I truly feel every person has a unique magic within them, and if they can locate and believe in their strengths, they can begin to be empowered in a way that will help them to cope with disruptive symptoms. I am happy and honored to be a person to help them see the light within them. My counseling style is warm and interactive. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, and I don't believe in stigmatizing labels. My approach combines a humanistic approach which believes in unconditional positive regard, as well as cognitive-behavioral, Adlerian, and solution focused theory. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs. I want you to know you deserve peace with the core of who you are and peace with how you feel. Let’s talk about how we can walk the path to peace together.
