Why did I choose counseling as a career?
When I was in college, I thought I wanted to be a teacher. I wanted to impact the lives of others the way some of my amazing teachers did for me. I later learned that was not my path. A few courses and a career assessment later, I stumbled upon counseling. After doing some research, I thought it would be a perfect fit for me.
Once I enrolled in my graduate program, the coursework, while rigorous, came to me effortlessly. Well, maybe not entirely effortlessly, but I loved the challenge. I am able to connect my innate skills with the knowledge that I gained during my studies. I take the standpoint that you are the expert of yourself. While I may have had similar shared experiences, I also understand that everyone's worldview is different.
I feel it is my role to better understand my client's worldview so that together we can craft solutions for greater healing and success.
I look forward to working with you.
