Michelle Broussard, PhD
About Michelle Broussard
My educational background is varied. I am an Ordained Minister of the Gospel and a Licensed Clinical Christian Counselor, licensed by the National Christian Counselors Association, License #19354. I have a Ph.D. in Pastoral Counseling from Ministry Institute International in Powell, TN. In addition, I have a B.S. in Exercise Physiology, an M.S. in Kinesiology, and an M.B.A with an emphasis in management. I completed 4 years of study in Oriental Medicine receiving a Master’s degree in Oriental Medicine, including acupuncture and Chinese herbology. I was a licensed acupuncturist and Diplomate of Oriental Medicine. (Yes I LOVE school!)
My passion is seeing women set free from fear, anxiety, unforgiveness, self-hatred, and rejection by applying Biblical principles to their lives. I love to work with people and show them how they can '...recover themselves out of the snare of the devil..." (2 Timothy 2:26). I utilize Cognitive Therapy in individual, abuse, trauma, chronic illness, and addiction counseling.
As a Christian Counselor, I believe that many problems can be spiritual in nature, resulting from either not understanding biblical truth or from sinful behavior. I also recognize that personal problems can arise because of physical, social-environmental influences and psychological pressures.
I believe that God created all individuals in His image. We can only feel complete and fulfilled through a relationship with God through His Son, Jesus Christ. My main goal is to enable clients to move toward greater emotional and spiritual health by becoming more like Jesus Christ.
I believe counseling should involve praying about the client’s difficulties and looking to the authority of the Bible for guidance, thus building a dependency on God for the client. There is forgiveness for our past, and strength for the present and hope for our future when we trust the Lord to meet our daily needs, and heal our emotional wounds.
My goal is to reflect the character of our Lord and love and care for my clients as He would. I will not force religion, but it is the foundation of which I counsel.
Twelve years ago I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis and several other autoimmune diseases. I love working with people diagnosed with chronic illnesses to help them position themselves as overcomers not as victims. We are not a disease!
I am happily married to David Broussard and we have 1 chocolate Lab named, Roxy. We live in Canton, TX.
When I am not counseling, I am helping David with his art business, www.JeweledSteel.com. You can find David every month at First Monday Trade Days in Canton, TX.
