Andrew McKenzie, MSW RSW #820454
About Andrew McKenzie
I have been counselling professionally for over seven years as a therapist in both the public and private spheres. Currently, I manage a team of therapists in an accredited child and youth centre that provides assessment and treatment services for issues such as parent conflict, depression, anxiety, trauma, conflict, learning disabilities, and other mental health challenges.
In my private practice, I work primarily from Cognitive Behavorial Therapy, an evidence based practice that targets someone's thoughts, behaviours and feelings. I also draw from narrative and attachment theory to help clients and their families piece together stories of strength that will carry them into a healthier future together. Theories aside, my primary goal is building a foundation of trust and collaboration in therapeutic relationships.
My specialization is working primarily with men and young males on a range of mental health and cognitive issues. These issues are compounded by incredibly stressful academic and work environments, drugs, social media, sexual media, and the lure of gaming or screen addiction.
Most people that work with me are dealing with issues such as learning disabilities, ADHD, anger management, sexual issues, gaming addiction, anxiety or depression, and family relationships. If you’re a parent or young person considering therapy, feel free to fill out the inquiry form below and we can start a conversation. If needed, I offer a free 15 minute phone consult with the goal of offering some fresh eyes and what therapy might look like.
More about me:
my office space is located at Yonge and Eglinton (32 Berwick Ave.). I also offer online counselling through secure, easy to access video conferencing solutions (great for university students and heavy screen users). I work in the context of a team in order to consult and review best practices.
