Grace Dickman, LCSW
About Grace Dickman
I'm a social worker who has been serving youth, families, and individual adults in Chicago for over eight years. My approach to therapy is affirming, empathetic, and nonjudgmental. I believe each person is on a continuous journey of self-discovery and identity-making - no matter what age. I challenge my clients to view situations through various lenses in order to recognize their inherent strength and resilience. Each client is different, so each client's therapy should be different. We can collaboratively determine your goals for therapy and the best way to achieve them.
I commonly use Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Expressive or Arts-Based Therapies. I try to weave creativity into the healing process whenever appropriate, and also believe in the power of mind-body connections through mindfulness, breathwork, and movement.
I have experience working with individuals impacted by trauma, anxiety, depression, poor confidence, relationship issues, sexual violence, and issues surrounding gender and sexual identity. My work with teens has focused on empowering young women and those who identify as lgbtqia+ or gender noncomforming, as well as supporting immigrant families.
