About Jess Barraca
Movies and media do not teach us the best lessons about healthy relationships or how to live happy authentic lives. I have been working as a trauma therapist for 8 years, helping people find healthy ways of living and relating to one another. People who have experienced trauma or are struggling with conflicts in their relationship, sexuality, or other personal concerns; often find those issues overlap into all areas of their lives. I help people navigate the past to create new ways of handling their concerns that are more helpful to their lives. I individualize my approach to each person I see; however, I mainly utilize person-centered, CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy), and body-movement modalities.
I am currently clinically licensed in Maryland and PA. My Bachelor of Science in Psychology was earned at University of Illinois. I earned my Master of Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University along with a Post-Baccalaureate in Gender Violence Intervention. I recently finished a Certificate of completion in the Sexual Health Program from the University of Michigan in sex therapy and sexuality education.
I currently accept self pay, Cigna, Magellan, and Optum insurances. We will have to verify with each policy that tele-mental health is covered and that I am an in-network provider. If I am not in-network I can provide a superbill for you to submit for out-of-network benefits, if allowed by your policy.
I use she/hers pronouns. Please let me know yours.
