About Amy Hecht

Anais Nin said, "There comes a time when the risk to remain tight in the bud is more painful than the risk it takes to blossom. " Psychotherapy is sometimes the most effective way to begin to blossom. The slow and comfortable establishment of mutual trust will come first as we work to fully understand your unique personality and situation. Together we will explore the the source(s) of pain or struggle in your life and identify practical, workable solutions.

I work with people who are having any type of emotional struggles --  relationship difficulties, anxiety, depression, identity and sexual orientation issues, and all of the psychological issues that arise in relation to adoption. I also provide the testing and assessments that are often required in international adoptions.

I'm a licensed clinical psychologist with a special clinical concentration in relationships, couples and adoption. I have been in private practice since 2001 during which time I provided psychotherapeutic treatment to hundreds of individuals, couples, families, international and domestic adoptees and adoptive parents.

You and I will work as a team to find the source of what holds you back and weighs you down. I will give you skilled, gentle guidance in changing while providing the support you need as you begin to feel better about yourself and your life. I'm a fairly active therapist...you won't be left talking to a "blank wall".
