About Tanya Hansen

Registered Provisional Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists. Tanya Hansen is an experienced video and telephonic registered provisional psychologist/counsellor and believes online counselling is an excellent modality for counselling not just in times of quarantine and COVID-19 restrictions. Online counselling has been shown through many studies to be as effective or possibly more effective than in-person counselling in terms of convenience, accessibility, and removal of many barriers which sometimes can get in the way of attending therapy. Tanya Hansen has two Masters degrees - one is Masters of Theological Studies in Counselling granted in 1993 and more recently, Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counselling (2018) from Capella University. Tanya was previously certified as a psychotherapist/counsellor with CCPA since 1997 and also was a Canadian Certified Rehabilitation Counsellor. She is now a Registered Provisional Psychologist and is able to accept most forms of insurance, although it is always best to check with your provider with respect to coverage. Her license number is 3200p. Tanya Hansen specializes in relationship/marital therapy utilizing a Gottman approach, as a level 3 therapist and works with individuals and couples seeking relationship counselling. She is also trained in anxiety and depression care and has worked in a depression/anxiety care program for several years, using assessment and CBT/DBT as primary approaches. Tanya also works with disability management and return to work programs working with a variety of insurance programs to assist in providing RTW services and GRTW planning, which includes workplace conflict, disability, psychological and physical disability issues.
