About Karolina Lazarov

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Licensed Behavior Specialist. I was born in Poland where I earned my first graduate degree in Applied Psychology. When in Poland, I was trained in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy as well as, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and used Holistic Approach to helping others. I had a chance to work at the State Police Headquarters mentoring, diagnosing, and counseling police officers while using Trauma Informed Care as my treatment framework. I also gained excessive training in Postpartum Depression / Baby Blues during my post-graduate internship at the County Public Hospital and became involved in a research project studying prenatal attachment between mothers and their unborn children, as well as, the healing process of mother’s psychotherapy after birth of a child. To advance my career, I decided to move to Philadelphia where I obtained my second graduate degree in Professional Counseling Psychology and became a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Licensed Behavior Specialist. I was trained in Cognitive Behavior Therapy for depression, anxiety, trauma, as well as, Postpartum related disorders and difficulties with transitioning and adjusting to the new life demands. For the past 10 years, I have been working with individuals, couples, and families struggling with adjustment, life transitioning, depression, anxiety, OCD, perinatal disorders, relationship difficulties, family conflicts, and parent-child struggles in a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings. As a Behavior Specialist, I have been working with children and teenagers diagnosed with ADHD, ODD, emotional and social difficulties, as well as, adjustment and transitioning issues. I closely collaborate and consult with physicians, psychiatrists, school counselors, and social workers to provide a wraparound services to my youngest clients. Moreover, I use my multicultural background in every day practice and strongly believe in empowering kids, teenagers, young adults, mothers, and professionals, struggling with adjusting and transitioning to new stages in life and its demands. I counsel college students and young adults who tend to feel lost and overwhelmed with school, careers, and life decisions that they need to make. I cooperate with immigrants and foreigners coming from diverse populations and backgrounds who need to adjust to living in a foreign country far away from their families and friends.
