About Todd Graves
About My Clients
I am certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), which is an often-used treatment for Post-Traumatic Stress and other trauma-based disorders. I specialize in treating individuals experiencing trauma along a broad spectrum from sexual abuse and assault to relational trauma, to combat and first-responder service-related traumas. I am working to expand the insurance carriers that I can bill, please continue to check back as I expect to join several panels shortly.
My Background and Approach
I spent many years in practice before learning about EMDR and the impact that unresolved trauma has for most of us. I often felt like I had one hand tied behind my back when trying to work with people whose trauma I could identify, but I could not determine how they were impacted by it or how to help them manage it. Not wanting to continue to feel this way I started looking into trauma treatments and found EMDR. Honestly, my first impressions were that it was some kind of weird Vudoo thing. But then as I started looking into it I found that it is backed by more than 3 decades of good research and is used widely throughout the world. I decided to get trained and then to get certified and I finally feel l have resources to support those whose unresolved trauma is hampering happiness and wellbeing. Specialty Areas: Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Anxiety Depression Grief and Loss Pornography and Sexual Addiction Recovery Other impulsive/compulsive/addictive behaviors.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I was raised on the Kitsap Penninsula almost directly west of Seattle. If you know the area of which I am speaking, you may also know that it is an area that is steeped in military culture. My dad served in the Navy and later worked as a civil servant for the Navy. I was raised around all branches, and I have a deep respect for the service of our soldiers, sailors, airmen, marines, and coastguardsmen. My dad was also a volunteer firefighter and EMT, and I now have a brother who is a career firefighter and another who is a police officer in Northern Utah. I have a profound respect for our first responders and their families who make such potent sacrifices. I desire to serve you and your needs. Please do not hear me say that these are the only populations that I serve; however, these populations often struggle to seek support. I want them to know that they have a special place in my heart, and you will be treated with respect and discretion.
