About Becca Ubben

Becca Ubben is a mental health professional who brings clinical experience from both community mental health and private practice settings. Becca believes effective therapy should address the emotional, as well as the practical, allowing clients to experience healing in both heart and mind. She enjoys counseling with teenagers, college students, and adults. Her therapy experience has covered working with issues related to emotional trauma, family conflict, anxiety, depression, abuse, and addiction. She has received specialized training in Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and has experience leading mental health group therapy for adolescent girls. Becca’s current practice focuses on individuals who struggle with doubt, fear, worry, perfectionism, anxiety, spiritual concerns, and guilt. Along with these issues, Becca has a passion for working with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and other obsessional issues. As someone who has been personally afflicted by obsessive compulsive disorder and anxiety, Becca has a passion to see others find relief from these issues. She understands that it's not always easy to find a counselor who knows how to treat OCD effectively, and that's why she wants to be that counselor for her clients. In addition to personal experience, Becca also has specialized training and professional experience in treating obsessive compulsive disorder. Utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Exposure and Response Prevention, she finds great joy in helping her clients find freedom from this enslaving disorder. Becca is currently involved in the Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder Training Program with Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA. Becca earned her Masters in Counseling from Dallas Theological Seminary in 2017. After graduating, she began working for several years with adolescents and adults struggling with homelessness, addiction, and various other mental illnesses. In June 2018, she and her husband moved back to Becca's childhood home of east Tennessee, and she joined the therapy staff at Haven in February 2020. Becca is currently pursuing full licensure as a professional counselor under the supervision of Jodi Clarke, LPC-MHSP. Becca’s work as a counselor is deeply influenced by her Christian faith, but she is comfortable and has experience counseling clients from a variety of backgrounds and belief systems. She allows her clients to take the lead on if, and how, they want to discuss their personal beliefs and spiritual perspectives in therapy. Becca is committed to have the counseling space be one of welcome and safety for people with whatever they bring. When she is not working, Becca enjoys laughing with her husband, playing with their beloved golden retriever, learning about dogs, making and eating good food, playing video games, and spending time with friends and family.
