About Livia Freier

A popular motivational quote says: “What you give power to, has power over you”. I like this quote because it speaks to the fact that we have a choice whether or not we are going to engage with our beliefs. This is important because in many ways we become our beliefs – for better or worse. Your beliefs are the stories that guide your behavior and influence your emotions. These stories will determine the quality of your life. You learned these stories a long time ago and might not even be aware of the consistent negative narratives. But any limiting belief and associated behaviors can be identified and challenged. My role as a therapist is to guide you in learning about yourself, understanding how your story came to be, and how to rewrite it in a way that allows you to take control of your life. As a psychologist, I specialize in anxiety and depression related to a weakened sense of self, low self-worth, and perfectionism. I help people who struggle to put themselves first, engage in negative self-talk, and have difficulties reinforcing boundaries of respect in their personal relationships. I use evidence-based interventions that aim to achieve immediate relief and long-term change. My approach is collaborative, inclusive, and empathic. My therapeutic background is in cognitive behavioral therapy, emotion-focused therapy, and mindfulness practices. My research background is in developmental neuroscience. Courage and fear are often depicted as polar opposites when in reality they are two truths that exist at once. Starting therapy takes great courage and finding the right therapist for you is critical to achieving outcomes. On my blog www.mindwell.life, I share insights and tips on how to find the right therapist, common problems you might encounter, and what questions to ask before scheduling your first appointment. You’ll also find plenty of resources on how to heal from anxiety and depression on the website www.mindwell.life. To arrange an appointment, give me a call or submit the contact form on the website www.mindwell.life. I like to call all new clients before scheduling the first session to introduce myself, answer questions, and get a sense of your goals for therapy.
