About Tia Wilcek
Tia Wilcek, LICSW (she/her)
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
I’ve had the honor of being in the field of social work since 2013 working with families, adolescents, and young adults supporting them in the moments of big life transitions. I received my B.A. in Social Work from St. Catherine University in 2013 and my Masters in Clinical Social Work from University of St. Thomas in 2017.
My approach to therapy is holistic and attends to the mind, body, and spirit.
I have spent much of my training focused in trauma and attachment (aka how we do relationships). I have specialized training in:
DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy), EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Therapy), TF-CBT (Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy),
COS-P (Circle of Security Parenting).
I help people dealing with issues such as: trauma, anxiety, depression, thoughts about hurting themselves, grief/loss, phase of life transitions, self-esteem and self-confidence issues, relationship problems.
When we work together you can expect from me a partner. This means I will not sit across from you for an hour with head-nods and smiles, I will not offer lectures, and I will not solve your problems by telling you ‘here’s where it went wrong and here’s how you fix it’.
With me you’ll get a safe, non-judgmental, supportive, and honest person where challenging things can be discussed and room for growth and change is available.
You will get a therapist who is genuine, honest, willing to push with you towards your goals, and will sit with you in the discomfort and laugh with you in the silly. I will be your partner as you figure out your journey and as your journey continues to transform.
It would be my honor to work with you and help you realize your true self and happiness.
