About Chantal Cote

Hi there. My name is Chantal Côté. I am a Registered Psychologist in the province of Alberta, Canada. I am bilingual in both English and French. I am looking forward to connecting with those from the province of Alberta and other areas where counselling is not as accessible due to it being an unregulated field. My counselling philosophy is based in the understanding that all of us, at one time, have questioned our self-worth or doubted our abilities, gifts, and skills. I believe that people innately have the capacity to reach their fullest potential if provided with the opportunity and have seen evidence of this over and over again in my amazing clients. I believe in the uniqueness of finding those gems that make us human. This inspires me to offer more "traditional" styles of counselling, but to also think outside the box and offer counselling using expressive arts, movement in nature, and online counselling. This is what has led me to this work; the opportunity to show up for people with gentle compassion and curiosity and to explore new possibilities in our thoughts, understanding, and choices. The majority of my work is with older children, teens, and young adults. I love helping them discover their greatness and grow their love and compassion for their imperfectly perfect human selves and their supportive relationships. My counselling work thus far has included the opportunity to be part of the start up of a program supporting refugee families affected by trauma and loss. I have continued to work with children, teens, young adults and families in community mental health since then. I have worked for the local school board, a non-profit immigrant serving agency, a non-profit mental health organization, and for the Children's Grief Centre. In these various roles, I have supported those struggling with adjustment, anger, anxiety, communication, conflict, fears, grief, relationships, social skills, and trauma.
